Saturday 24th May 2008

Crosfields Hood Lane

A couple of thanks first, Hannah & Lyndsey for helping with the B-B-Q & Vera for opening the club dressing rooms at such an ungodly hour. Thanks to Craig Hoyland for organizing this event.

Four teams – Bikejump FC, Crossbar FC, Lomax FC & Wilkies Tavern FC – were competing for the inaugural Bikejump open age Football Tournament played at Crosfields Sports Ground.

Peter Annette was the ref for the day and handled the matches in a very professional way.

The winning team Crossbar FC

The atmosphere on the day reflected the spirit of charity I am pleased to say, yes there were one or two misdemeanors on the pitch but who has ever entered a competition without wanting to win!

The first match of the day was Bikejump V Lomax, a very competitive game with Bikejump emerging as winners and progressing to the final, awaiting the winners of the second match between Crossbar & Wilkies Tavern. In a close fought game Crossbar progressed to the final. In the 3rd & 4th place play-off Wilkies beat Lomax, again in a close fought match.

With a number of players missing from the Bikejump team (9) players from Wilkies and Lomax amalgamated to scrape an eleven for the final with Crossbar.

Crossbar came out victorious win a comfortable win against a scratch side from Bikejump.

A final thank you must go to Crossbar for loaning players throughout the day to make up the numbers for one or two teams, so thanks Bertand thanks everyone for a successful fund raiser. A well attended day which was enjoyed by all.
